Florida Stevedoring was incorporated in 1972 and currently holds an active Stevedoring License with Miami-Dade Seaport Department as well as Port Everglades Authority. The roots of Florida Stevedoring history run deep reaching back to 1937 when Frank A. Rovirosa created the Havana, Cuba headquartered shipping and stevedoring company bearing his name. Today, the company remains under the management and control of the Rovirosa family. After the commencement of operations in 1961; it soon became a major player concentrating efforts in the South Florida waterfront and established a reputation for attention to detail, integrity, quality and innovation.
Our superintendents are career stevedores; highly trained with the necessary skills and motivation to assure an efficient, cost effective operation. We employ skilled labor from the International Longshoremen’s Association labor union. Florida Stevedoring was one of the four founding Members of the Port of Miami Terminal Operating Company (POMTOC). It remains a very active member of the Board of Directors. The Ownership and Management of Florida Stevedoring, being involved in the local shipping industry for over 53 years, is engaged in various leadership roles in the City and County representing the interests of the Seaport Community. |
